Google’s gallery of delusional cult leaders

I’ve know for years that Donald Trump was mentally disordered, but now Google shows him as #2 in images if you Google “Delusional Cult Leader”! Try it!

I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and before Trump was elected in 2016, I shared with friends my opinion that Donald Trump was a sociopath. I was not prepared to actually diagnose him as such (a question of certainty as well as ethics), but then, after he was elected, a tidal wave of mental health professionals started making the same assessment, most notably in the book The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump: 37 Psychiatrists and Mental Health Experts Assess a President.

Then there was the gruesome murder and dismemberment of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Trump, who was privy to spy-level intelligence of who did what, immediately covered for his friend Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) and vouched for his innocence, when MBS was immediately implicated as the one who ordered the assassination! They had photos of MBS’s men and recordings of the murder at his embassy! Now I believed Trump was a psychopath, worse than a garden variety sociopath, and still more professionals came forward, citing characteristics consistent with the disorder.

It was hard to believe that this pathological liar, fraud operator and serial sexual predator had been elected POTUS. But it happenned. Then he got worse.

We all know that the presidential election is essentially a popularity contest, and popular and well-known he was. So, I attributed the fluke of his winning the election as a product of clever marketing. But then, he started exhibiting truly bizarre behavior, right on TV, like advocating for Russia’s trustworthiness over our own national security people. We had heard about weird behavior, but I thought it just could have been political sniping. However, this weirdness was on TV right before our eyes! Then he started playing doctor, suggesting we inject bleach to treat COVID-19, and advocating for snake-oil treatment that people were later indicted for selling as a cure-all. Holy smokes!

Meanwhile, his MAGA hat-wearing fans grew more and more disconnected from reality, like cult members, seeming to believe all the lies he told and exhibiting a passion to follow him usually reserved for religious cult leaders. He made references to being the “chosen one”, and some said he was sent to us by God.

Then we had his refusal to admit he lost the election in 2020 and ginning up his followers with a totally fabricated story that he actually won. He said that the election was a fraud, a fairy tale concocted solely in his imagination with not a shred of evidence to suggest it. And his cult ate it up.

Then, in January, Trump called his followers to come to D.C. and “Stop the Steal”, telling them in a campaign-style rally that they can prevent Biden from being POTUS by going to the Capitol to “fight like hell” to stop Congress from certifying Biden’s win. We all know what happened next as they stormed the Capital, resulting in 5 deaths, countless injuries to those protecting Congress and incredible damage to the Capitol and the country.

Now we hear denials that the 1/6 insurrection was his doing. His followers even say it didn’t happen. And today we are hearing from reliable sources that he is telling people he will be reinstated as POTUS in August. Who does he think will reinstate him? His cult? General Flynn and a junta?

His followers say he did a great job when he brought death and ruin to us with his gross incompetence and malevolence. What delusional thinking. They want to reinstate him in the White House, like they tried on 1/6. Trump has a following of worshipful fans, already shown to be violent, a cult devoted to a very sick man with nonsensical delusions.

I agree with Google’s AI search engine algorithm. Trump is a delusional cult leader, #2 on the list, right behind Charles Manson.
